I put them in this old slide lid box--a larger box than they need

with general smudging/soiling and unevenness to the top edge

I can't find another one anywhere out there exactly like this one

though I find it a bit hard to tell exactly how it's surface came to be--and the sides and back are something else as well

They are a set of drawing cards, produced for use in schools, specifically "Coes New Drawing Lessons No 1." printed by D. Appleton & Co., New York, 1858, and described here as "A Method by which all the Members of a Large Class are taught to Draw at Once with Neatness, Uniformity, and Accuracy." (And indeed, it you've
