Constructed of silvered magnetic iron, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a pair of crossed swords, situated over a plane and above a date of 1942, topped by an inscription of DEMJANSK, culminating in a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked on each side by log pillboxes, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to an oval magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool liner
