Germany, Imperial. A U-Boat War Badge, Unknown Maker Variant consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac measuring 44 mm (w) x(U Boot Kriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath wrapped in ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, and overlaid by a central U Boat situated over a hollow void, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a flattened and rounded catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a documented variant produced by an unidentified manufacturer using the Schott design,
